It is time for renewal and rebirth in downtown Cooksville. Councillor Dipika Damerla (Ward 7, Mississauga) is leading the charge to start a Business Improvement Association in the area.
“I have a vision to transform the historic Hurontario and Dundas area into a destination place where people come not only to shop but also to enjoy. A strong and distinct brand will help us to encourage residents and visitors to shop in the area and will attract new businesses,” Damerla said in a statement.
A community Townhall was held and a steering committee was formed in May. “We are pleased and excited to announce the formation of a steering committee for the creation of a Business Improvement Association for the Cooksville area of Mississauga. Our intention is to create a unique and beautiful destination for everyone to explore and enjoy within Cooksville,” said Steven Smith, local business owner and chairman of the Cooksville BIA Steering Committee.
The creation of the BIA will help the businesses in being more effective in a number of areas including:
“There has been a considerable interest in the BIA and our strong team is working hard to making it into a reality. This will be the first step in re-imagining 5 &10 into a destination place and the start of many more new and exciting things to come for Cooksville,” Councillor Damerla said.
The boundaries of the proposed BIA are currently under works and this and other details will be announced shortly.
